August 9 Donation of 500 books to NGO ConTextos.
On August 9, CHCF made a $5,000 donation to ConTextos, which is a non-profit organization, with the purpose of purchasing books for their reading programs in El Salvador.
ConTextos was formed by graduate students from Harvard School of Education. Its mission is to transform the public educational method in El Salvador by fostering reading, writing, critical thinking, and discussion in the classroom rather than mere diction, copying, and rote memorization. In so doing, ConTextos equips students with the skills they need to become active citizens of a global community, and empowers teachers to share their new teaching methods with others, sustaining ConTextos’s model.
